BRUCE BOXLEITNER
Bruce Boxleitner was born on 12th May 1950 in Elgin,
IL. He has been married twice and has two sons, Sam and Lee, from his marriage
to Kathryn Holcomb and one son, Mikey, from his present marriage to TV star
Melissa Gilbert who's probably best known for her role as Laura Ingalls in the
long running show 'Little House on the Prairie'.
I first saw Bruce in the short lived TV series, 'Bring 'Em Back
Alive' in the early 80's where he played real life adventurer, 'Frank Buck' but
I didn't really take much notice of him until I saw my first episode of the
classic action adventure series, 'Scarecrow and Mrs.King'. In the show he played secret agent, Lee
Stetson - codename: Scarecrow, who
is reluctantly partnered with a suburban housewife and divorced mother of two, Mrs.
Amanda King, played by Kate Jackson of Charlie's Angels
fame.
He has starred in a variety of films including The Baltimore
Bullet, Disney's classic, Tron and the Gambler movies with Kenny Rogers. He has
also appeared in many mini series including Bare Essence and 'Til We Meet
Again.
Other series he has starred in are 'How The West Was Won' in the
70's and most recently, in probably his most famous role to date, he starred in
the cult Sci-Fi show 'Babylon 5' as Captain John Sheridan.
Bruce makes the occasional appearance at Sci-Fi conventions and is
very pleasant and friendly, a real gentleman. He has recently completed a novel
combining his two favourite genre's, Westerns and Sci-Fi. The book is called
'Frontier Earth' and he embarked on a gruelling book signing tour here in
England from 24th January - 2nd February 2000 covering
the whole of the the UK and Ireland. He plans to write a sequel which should be
out in the next couple of years.
He's also currently a member of the Board of Governers of the
National Space Society and whenever he attends a convention is more than happy
to talk about his views on space travel and his work with the Society.
