Dining Room

Scarecrow and Mrs. King ran from 1983 until 1987 and supplied us with
two of the most enduring, romantic, funny, loveable and colourful characters in
TV history.
The first was Lee
Stetson, codename: Scarecrow. A secret agent ("Never really
cared for the word spy") working for a covert organisation called 'The
Agency'. His boss was William
(Billy) Melrose, who was invariably frustrated by Lee's constant
lack of doing anything 'by the book'. Even so, they were good friends, as was
Billy's assistant, Francine
Desmond. Beautiful, materialistic and sarcastic (downright rudeness
when dealing with Amanda), Francine was another agent and good friend to Lee.
Lee himself was handsome, sophisticated, a ladies man who drove a classic
Porsche and one of the top agents ever recruited. A loner who shunned working
with anyone after his previous partner took a bullet in the head for him.
The second was Amanda
King. A housewife living in Arlington, Virginia. An incessant talker
with a knack of getting into any trouble going, she was divorced and lived with
her two sons, Philip
and Jaime and her
mother Dotty
(Dorothea). Although somewhat 'scatty', she was also bright, stubborn, caring
and had a unique way of looking at things that would help Lee on a number of
missions. She had a boyfriend called Dean and life was....OK.
The pilot episode (The
First Time) introduced and gave us a little background to the main
characters and how they met. It was all down to a little package......
