Amanda's not sure if it's a clue but Lee thinks that Granger has blown his alibi and, after finding his address, they leave P-WAC and pay him a visit.
When Lee's knock on the door goes unanswered, he breaks into Granger's apartment. They find him laying on the couch with headphones on, apparently asleep. Lee removes the headphones and Granger's head rolls to the side. He's dead and with him the one lead they had.
Back at the Agency, Lee, Amanda, Billy and two officers from P-WAC called, Sykes and Morgan, all meet to discuss the way forward. Lee and Billy have both realised that the murder fits the Dodger's MO and have asked Morgan to contact the CO's at Belvedere and Morrison to tell them to change their security set-up. Sykes tells them it's been done, then Lee tells them to change it again. Sykes begins to argue but it's pointed out that if the Dodger had people in P-WAC, he'll have them in Belvedere and Morrison too.
Morgan asks for a secure line and Amanda passes him a telephone, clearly showing her ring. In an apartment somewhere, Squires sits drinking coffee and listens in to all the conversation via Amanda's ring. He now knows what security system is going to be in place and that evening steals the pliofilm from Belvedere.
The next day, Francine informs Lee that that latest Intel has the Artful Dodger in Cairo or possibly Iran. Lee doesn't believe it and he and Amanda go into Billy's office. Billy tells them that the whole army has gone on alert and that they're moving cover three to Fort Keneally by a twenty-truck convoy. When Amanda suggests that the Dodger will probably follow, they tell her that that's what they want him to do because it's a diversion and cover three will really be going out the back gate in a mail truck.
Billy goes on to describe where the truck should be while Squires sits in his apartment listening in on their conversation. Once he's overheard enough, he turns off his recorder and sets out to steal cover three.
Meanwhile, George has entered Billy's office and is doing a scan while the other three continue to talk about the decoy. The nearer George gets to Amanda, the louder his equipment is bleeping. Lee looks at Amanda and asks her what she's got on her. At first she can't think and then it hits her…the ring!
A little later, Billy, Lee and Amanda are still in Billy's office but the ring is bow encased in a glass container on his desk. The glass is called, 'white noise' and blocks out any signal. Amanda is contrite and keeps apologising but Lee is furious and yells at her. Billy tells him to calm down and he says sorry. Billy then decides to put out an APB on Squires' car before going out to drive around looking for him. Lee tells Amanda to stay put but she defies him pointing out that she's the only one who can recognise him.
On the street, the two soldiers in the mail truck are listening to music, their walkie-talkies neatly lined up next to the radio. At P-WAC, Morgan tries to contact and warn his men but all he hears is music where they've got it turned up too loud.
At the same time, Lee is trying to catch up with the mail truck. Billy and Amanda are in the car with him and she is still blaming herself over the mess. Billy asks how she met Squires and when she explains, Lee is less than impressed at her naivety.
Elsewhere, the truck has come to some roadwork's and stops. It's a ruse and Squires drives a forklift truck into the side of the mail van and carries it off the road down an alleyway. He drops it on its side, then covers his face with a gas mask and shoots at the back of the van. Gas fills the truck while he opens the back doors and steals the pliofilm. As he runs away, the two soldiers get out of the van, coughing.
Lee, Billy and Amanda are still trying to find the mail truck when Amanda suddenly spots Squires out of the car window. Lee slams on the brakes causing the tyre's to squeal which alerts the Dodger to their presence. Squires dumps his mask in a dumpster just as Lee pulls up alongside. Armed with a gun, Squires runs into an old warehouse. Lee and Billy get out of the car leaving Amanda in the back seat, and chase after him.
After an exchange of shots and a chase up to the top floor of the warehouse, Squires manages to get away from them down an outside fire escape. Not about to give up, much to Billy's amazement, Lee grabs a fire hose and throws the end out of the window. With the other end still attached to the wall of the warehouse, it acts as a long rope which Lee proceeds to shimmy down.
Squires reaches the ground first and runs off towards where his car is parked. When he gets there, he sees Amanda letting out the air of his tyre's. She looks up at him and he starts to draw his gun from the inside pocket of his jacket.
Lee arrives just in time and tells Squires to drop his gun. He does so, then surprises Lee by turning suddenly and knocking his gun out of his hand. The two start to fight and Squires lands a couple of punches square on Lee's jaw. Lee responds with a punch to Squire's stomach, followed by one to his jaw and then throws him into a pile of crates. At that moment Billy arrives, his gun trained on Squires and makes the arrest.
Amanda goes over to Lee then pulls out a tissue and begins to clean his bloodied lip.
Later that night, Lee takes Amanda to a fancy restaurant. His bottom lip is bruised and swollen making it hard for him to even eat the soup he's ordered. Amanda feels bad because she's having steak, but Lee assures her he's in no pain. Amanda then asks Lee if the dinner is an apology for anything he might have said in the heat of the moment. He tries to deny it by saying that he eats there all the time, but Amanda points out that the maitre d' got his name wrong. She then goes on to say that if it is an apology then it isn't necessary and he had a right to be angry. She also adds that she understood his reaction and it would be a very nice gesture on his part. Lee finally admits that dinner was an apology and she thanks him.
SCENE'S TO WATCH OUT FOR

ROMANCE
Well, there's a fair bit for Amanda in this episode but it's not coming from Lee. Having said that, although Squires tried his best to romance her, Amanda let him down relatively quickly and without much persuasion as soon as an assignment with Lee came up. In truth, she acted as though she were just being polite to Squires more than having any actual feeling for him. And her denial that there was any other man in her life wasn't really that convincing.
And Lee, well, I think it surprised him that she had someone in her life that would give her a concubine ring. He certainly didn't seem to like it and proved the fact by actually asking her who it was from, right there in front of Billy! Unusual for Lee, he's generally a tinier bit more subtle than that when he's jealous. I wonder what Billy made of it all.
And then there was Lee trying to make up for his temper and the things he'd said to her. Why go to so much trouble as to take a person to dinner when you've got such a busted lip you can hardly eat, let alone talk, if you don't have some kind of feelings for that person? Again, he puts in an awful lot of time and effort to try and make up for the things he does when it comes to Amanda.
So, more undercurrents of mutual feeling in this episode and it also was nice to see their friendship tested and win though.

LEE: Who gave you that ring?
AMANDA STARES AT HIM SILENTLY FOR A MOMENT
AMANDA: Oh, I don't think you should ask me a personal question like that.
LEE: Personal? I wasn't being personal.
BILLY: Scarecrow, I've got just two words for you. Fred Fielder.
LEE LOOKS AT AMANDA
LEE: How about seven thirty?
AMANDA: I'll help you.
LEE: I'm going to try to prove that the Agency didn't set up a faulty security system at P-WAC, alright?
AMANDA: Oh, ha! Well of course they didn't! I mean that's your job! You set up security systems, you catch spies, you protect the country. And nobody does it better. Nobody. And I'd like to see someone prove that they could.
LEE:
(smiling) Well, thank you. It's, uh, it's kind of nice to have a vote of confidence now and then.
AMANDA: Lee?
LEE: What?
AMANDA: Rushing me will make me nervous.
(He nods and starts to whistle. Amanda looks back up at him pointedly.) Whistling is rushing.
AMANDA: You know, this is really pretty spooky. In the movies, when you do this, somebody jumps out of the closet, actually there's a dead body hanging from the rafters of the…
LEE: Oh, Amanda…
AMANDA: Besides that, I think it's breaking and entering.
LEE: It's not breaking, just entering. Come on.
GEORGE WAVES THE BUG DETECTING DEVICE IN FRONT OF FRANCINE AS SHE TYPES ON HER COMPUTER
FRANCINE: George, would you please get that thing out of my face?
GEORGE: Just your friendly neighbourhood exterminator, doing my job.
FRANCINE: Well some of us don't have bugs dear.
LEE: Oh yeah, and he picked you up!
AMANDA: He did not pick me up!
BILLY: He did not give you a phone number?
AMANDA: No, he didn't give me a phone number, he always called me.
LEE: And that didn't tip you off?
LEE: A slick guy in a Rolls convertible gives you a ring and a great line and you go for it. Just terrific.
LEE: Do I have any teeth left?
AMANDA: Would you like a straw?
LEE: Uh no. No, a straw wouldn't look right with soup.
