DISCLAIMER:
Hey you know they aren’t mine, I know they aren’t mine, and everyone knows I don’t
intend to harm them, at least in this short thing, but I will return them
unharmed regardless of the story line, or if not unharmed then at least on the
mend. Seriously, I don’t own anything other than the story. The characters and
the show they come from belong to Shoot
the Moon and other big rich television and production companies. Lee and Amanda
belong to Bruce and Kate because they are the only ones who could play them and
pull it off.

TIME FLIES
"What?!"
Amanda’s voice held shock and disbelief.
"You
have a cute nose." Lee smiled at her obvious confusion.
"My
nose?" He nodded still grinning. "Thank you, you have a cute holster."
"Holster?"
His face fell a bit.
Amanda
smiled as the tables turned to her advantage. He now thought she felt insulted,
she could read the back tracking in his eyes, as he tried to come up with something
to make up for it. She turned and put a finger to his lips as he started to speak.
"You have a cute nose too, Scarecrow." His face perked up again.
"Thanks."
Lee
shook his head at her teasing, "My pleasure." It was then that he realized
that Amanda hadn’t removed her finger from his lips. She realized it at about the
same moment and the background noise of the plane and the other agents faded
until they ceased to exist. She felt the play of his lips as he grinned softly.
Then she thought she felt he most chaste kiss upon her fingertip. All she could
see was the unnamed emotion in Lee’s hazel eyes, all she could feel was the
softness of his lips on her finger.
She
didn’t know what was going to happen but she hoped that this was finally it.
That he would finally give in to the feelings she read in his heavy lidded
eyes. She felt her cheeks burn with anticipation and hope. He began to lean
closer to her, and the sounds of laughter intruded maliciously and the moment
was broken almost before it had begun. She sighed in frustrated disappointment
as Lee straightened.
Lee
ran fingers through his hair in frustration and embarrassment, he hadn’t meant
to let it go so far. He didn’t want their first nonwork-related kiss to bear witnesses.
He looked around to see the other couples in the cabin firmly occupied with each
other. Lee took Amanda by the hand and discreetly led her through the door to a
more secluded cabin.
He
didn’t know if he could work up the courage to try again, but he wanted to be
alone with her for a little while, without the world interrupting. He finally settled on the cabin with a small
couch that appeared to be an abandoned office. The desk was set up facing the
small windows away from the couch on the other side of the cabin. This cabin
was just behind the cockpit so he didn’t foresee any interruptions. Leading her
over to the couch he let her sit first. He took a place by her side and kissed
her hand secretly delighted by the startled expression on her face.
"Do
you ever feel like the world conspires against the two of us?" He asked as
he released her hand.
"Yeah."
She sighed as he opened his arm and she settled against his firm strength. She
let her cheek rest on his chest. "It feels like that more and more." She
rubbed her lips together like she always did when she was a little apprehensive
about something.
"Lee?"
"Hmmm?"
She felt the syllable roll through his chest before it emanated from his throat
and finally escape his mouth.
"What
exactly are we doing in here?"
"I
just thought it would be nice to be alone for a little while before we get to
DC. We have four hours to kill. I liked
the idea of spending the time talking about anything other than a case for a
little while."
"That
sounds nice. I enjoy talking about things other than work."
He
smiled keeping things light, following her lead. "Me too." ‘Come on
Stetson you’ve been dating this woman for a while now, what are you afraid of?’
he asked himself as he let his hand wander her arm absently stroking it, up and
down in a hypnotic motion that affected the both of them.
Amanda
relaxed further into him as he continued to caress her arm. ‘He seems to be enjoying
this and I know he wants to kiss me, why doesn’t he? Its past time he kissed me.’
Her fingers were playing with a button on his shirt as her thoughts took over.
Lee finally registered what her fingers were doing and he looked down at her observing
the changes to her face as she moved from thought to thought. There was a tiny smile
on her lips and he wondered what she was thinking. He was loathe to disturb her
though in favor of observing.
Amanda,
unaware of her observer, continued to remember the brief almost restrained kiss,
the only one they’d shared so far. His lips had been soft, and sweet, but she wasn’t
surprised by that. He had kissed her before, but the emotion she felt from him that
was new, unexplored and enticing. She wanted to explore those feelings he’d let
slip momentarily. Subconsciously she felt his eyes on her, but was still to
lost to pay it any mind. She liked the feel of his eyes on her anyway.
Her
fingers were getting to be too much, but it felt good, right. She should be
here like this with him always. His gaze traveled down her supple form. Her outfit
accented her figure perfectly in his eyes, but then anything would fit her
perfectly, in his eyes.
He
felt her soft, down-like hair caress his cheek. He knew in his heart of hearts
that no other man had or would appreciate that sensation quite like he did. Nor
would any other man really know her like he knew he could, he wasn’t there yet,
but he felt the pull between them as surely as he knew he loved her. He just
had to muster the courage to tell her.
Her fingers were still fidgeting with his button and the soft graze of her fingertips
were keeping him from going further along this line of thought.
He
reached up and took hold of the hand that fondled his button. Lee twined his
fingers intimately between Amanda’s and caressed the back of her hand with his
thumb effectively ceasing her touches. He felt a loss when the fingers stilled,
but the loss was less dangerous ground than where her fingers were leading.
Amanda
came out of her musings when he took her hand, and marveled that aside from his
thumb she couldn’t tell his hand from hers, and where his caress of her arm had
been hypnotic his stroking of the back of her hand was intoxicating. She
shifted again and slipped her arms around him after gently disengaging their
fingers. He accepted and returned her embrace. As she pressed in closer facing
his side his eyes fell closed and he reveled in the feel of her softness
against his side. He felt the curve of her breast ever so lightly against the
edge of his chest beside heart. She in turn could feel that heart beating
steadily against her. Her head now rested in the bend of his neck and shoulder and her breath was warm on
his skin.
Abruptly
he knew it. They’d regained the moment. He had but to open his eyes and look
into hers and the time would be perfect. So he opened his eyes and looked down
at her. Her dark gaze lifted to meet his, and the spark between them ignited and
heated the moment for the second time that afternoon. He leaned closer as she
raised to meet him.
The
touch was gently nervous and so tentative as to almost not be there. Lee moved scant
microns closer and the pressure of his lips grew more firm. When she didn’t
pull away they gained courage and began to caress hers. When his lips strengthened
and she realized that her heart hadn’t stopped afterall, she returned his
caress, not really kissing just feeling the texture and pleasing tingle the
contact gave.
Finally
Amanda could take no more and kissed her Scarecrow slowly and discreetly. When
her lips began the motions of their first kiss, Lee thought he would die right
there. He’d been oddly content with
just her lips touching his. Now as she deepened the sensation his neural
pathways ceased to function and time stood still. Then he felt her tongue
delicately caress his lower lip, and desire shot through his core.
He
opened his mouth and felt her hesitate before accepting his invitation. His
tongue caressed hers as she tasted the breath of him. There was still a slight
tang of alcohol on both their breaths, and she drank it in then gave him leeway
to explore her own mouth.
He
caressed her palate and tasted sweetness mixed with the same vodka of his own
mouth, and he couldn’t help but think that it tasted so much better in her
mouth. The pilot’s voice informing the
passengers of their imminent arrival at Dulles went unnoticed the first time it
sounded. The second time, however, the two gently and slowly ended their kiss.
Lee deposited one last kiss on her lower lip before pulling back completely. He
did not let her out of his arms, nor let her gaze fall from his when the dark
orbs finally opened.
"I
think we need to take more cross-country flights like this one."
His
voice was barely a whisper in the room. The only other sound was that of
Amanda’s gasps.
"If
it takes a cross-country flight then I think we need a plane that never
lands."
If
it weren’t for the breathless gravity of her statement and the look in her eyes
he might have laughed. He smiled at her instead and recaptured her lips briefly
to reassure them both that it was real. He then held her tightly as the plane
decended.
