LOST AND FOUND
Italian
ESP expert, Angelo Spinelli, arrives from Russia via a crate across the ocean.
Two men pick him up, crate and all, and bring him to the Agency. Billy calls
Amanda in and explains that they are going to relocate Angelo in America and
they want her to help him settle in. He explains that the Russians had offered
Angelo an excellent research deal but when he reached Moscow they did an about
turn and pressured him to use his abilities for military use. When he refused,
they threw him in prison from which the Agency helped him escape. Once Angelo
had settled in, Billy wanted to find out what secrets he’d been exposed to
before escaping.
Amanda
agrees to help but comments that she fells funny about not working with Lee.
Billy tells her that Lee is on an assignment in Sri Lanka but at that moment
Lee appears in the doorway. He’s unhappy that Amanda is working solo and
annoyed that he wasn’t told about Angelo. Billy seems uncomfortable and makes
an excuse about not wanting to bother Lee with a simple relocation. At the look
on Lee’s face, Billy then admits that he didn’t think Lee would want to be
involved with Angelo.
Lee
wants to speak to Angelo and ignores Billy plea’s not to do so as there’s
something he needs to tell him first. Lee enters the briefing room and greets
Angelo. They’re friends from two years previous when Lee went undercover as a
student and attended Angelo’s seminar on ESP. At that time they both fell in
love with Angelo’s research assistant, Eva, who ended up choosing and marrying
Angelo leaving Lee crushed. Lee asks Angelo where Eva is and he tells him that
the KGB have killed her – Lee is devastated.
Meanwhile,
in a hotel room somewhere, two KGB agents are joined by a third who tells them
that when their source lets them know where Angelo is they must capture and
take him back to Russia no matter what.
At
the Agency, Eva Spinelli has suddenly turned up alive and well.
At
the house, Angelo tells Lee that he took the Russians offer because Eva made
him see what a good deal it was. They also talk about Eva and Angelo tells Lee
that Eva told him all about him and he knows how deeply Lee must have felt
about her because he wouldn’t have told her about his job if he didn’t think he
was going to be with her for a long while. They are interrupted by the doorbell
that Lee answers and he is stunned to see Eva. She goes to Angelo and Lee asks
the agent who accompanied Eva, how she got there and the agent hands Lee a file
for him to read. The agent then tells Lee he’ll be staked out in the dry
cleaners van as they’ve heard that the KGB know Angelo is in the country.
That
night Angelo, Eva, Le and Amanda all have dinner together. Amanda tells them
that if they need a car then they should go to Liberty Larry’s and she’s put
the ad on the fridge. They also discuss Eva’s escape and she tells them she was
arrested then they told Angelo she was dead in order to make him break. A guard
felt sorry for her and helped her get out.
Back
at the hotel room, the KGB have found out where Angelo is and plan to capture
him that night.
At
the house Lee helps Amanda clean up in the kitchen. Amanda questions his
enthusiasm for the task and asks him point blank if it’s over between him and
Eva. Lee doesn’t reply and then asks if Amanda thinks Eva and Angelo look happy
together. Much to Lee’s delight, Amanda says that she doesn’t think Eva loves
Angelo.
At
three in the morning, Lee is awoken when he hears a noise and goes to
investigate. He finds Eva on the phone. She says that she was talking to
Angelo’s old doctor in Milan, as Angelo appears to be suffering from his old
depression. They both walk back to the living room and start to talk about the
past. Eva tells Lee that she has always loved him and asks if he feels the same
– his reply is to start kissing her!
Outside
the house, the agent in the cleaner’s van is dead and the three KGB agents
break into the house. They capture Lee and Eva and look for Angelo but he has
disappeared.
Amanda
turns up just after 7.30am and meets a neighbour who is going to drop off some
jam as a welcome present to Angelo. Amanda invites her in the house but when
she opens the door, Lee is just putting on his gun holster and Eva is still in
her nightie, so she tells the neighbour to go. Amanda tidies the house and Lee
calls Billy telling him that the KGB left when they heard Amanda coming in and
that Eva wasn’t with Angelo all night because she was with him in the living
room talking.
Amanda
goes to the kitchen and reassures Eva that Angelo will be found. Eva sees the
poppy seed cake that Amanda has made and tells Amanda that she hopes she has
better luck with Lee eating in the morning than she did. All he ever had was
coffee. Lee enters the kitchen and Amanda offers him some cake that he, at
first, refuses. Seeing Amanda looks put out though, he quickly amends and takes
a piece of cake to eat. Lee then asks Amanda if she’s noticed anything strange
since Angelo arrived. She replies that Eva’s hasn’t much lipstick left. At
Lee’s puzzled look, she explains that one lipstick tube takes around four
months to use but Eva’s only been out of prison a few days and she wouldn’t
have been allowed to take her make-up with her. That also applies to the bath
oil beads she found too. Then she mentions that Eva has a gun in her nightstand
drawer. At that moment, Eva appears and overhears their conversation. She tells
them that she has the gun for protection and that they should all work
together.
Lee
and Eva go out in the car searching for Angelo while Amanda stays at the house.
Amanda phones Dotty and notices that the ad for liberty Larry’s has been ripped
and guesses that that’s where Angelo has gone. Meanwhile, Lee notices that a
car is following them but doesn’t tell Eva. Instead, he pulls into a gas
station with the intention of ringing Amanda. Eva says she’ll do it incase
Angelo is there and he wants to hear her voice. The answering machine clicks on
and she hears the message Amanda has left that hints at going to Liberty
Larry’s. Eva goes back to Lee and lies, saying that Amanda is at home cooking
and cleaning. Lee accepts this and then Eva pops into the station bathroom
quickly before they leave.
Once
Lee and Eva leave the gas station, the KGB turn up and one of the agents goes
into the bathroom and comes back out with a note that Eva has left telling them
where to look for Angelo. In the meantime, Amanda has arrived at Liberty
Larry’s and found Angelo but he won’t go with her because he listened in on
Eva’s phone conversation and found out she is a KGB agent and he just wants to
get away.
In
the car, Lee notices that the car tailing them has vanished and he guesses that
they must know where Angelo is otherwise they’d still be following. He stops
again but this time he phones Amanda.
At
Liberty Larry’s, Amanda tries to convince Angelo not to go but then the KGB
turn up and they have to hide in the junkyard behind the car lot. While they
hide, Lee and Eva arrive. Eva tries to dissuade Lee from going into the yard
but he doesn’t listen so she pulls a gun on him. He realises that she’s a KGB
