INTO THE FIRE
BY JUDITH AND GARFIELD REEVES-STEVENS
ROXTON: It’s a little rough around the edges, in need of some
polishing here and there…but the right touch can reveal a fiery heart and a
remarkable brilliance for the right man to appreciate.
MARGUERITE: Shouldn’t you be off hunting or something?
ROXTON: What do you think I’m doing?
MARGUERITE: Alright, what were you going to say?
ROXTON: That you could use a little more fun in your life.
MARGUERITE: Fun? That’s
what you think is going on between us?
Idle, meaningless amusement.
ROXTON: Well, I…
MARGUERITE: Well, I… Is
that the best you can do?
ROXTON: Alright, what do you think is going on between us?
MARGUERITE: You don’t know.
ROXTON: Apparently not.
VERONICA: Just like playing football.
ROXTON: In civilised countries it’s called playing rugby.
MARGUERITE: Trust Lord Roxton to know how to antagonise a female.
ROXTON: Never underestimate a mother’s love for her children.
VERONICA: What if it isn’t female?
ROXTON: Then Marguerite will be able to reason with him.
ROXTON: I’m coming with you.
MARGUERITE: Completely unnecessary.
ROXTON: And what do you plan if that T-Rex comes back for a second
round?
MARGUERITE: I’ll reason with her.
CHALLENGER: I wonder if London’s changed.
VERONICA: You sure have.
CHALLENGER: Oh, really?
VERONICA: I don’t think you smiled for the first three months you
were here…unless you were looking at a dinosaur.
MARGUERITE: Oh! Has a
certain homey charm. No zeppelin
though.
ASKWITH: You’ve flown on one?
As passenger or crew?
MARGUERITE: Uh…more of a stowaway actually.
ASKWITH: I must say, the concern you and your friends have for Mr.
Malone is most impressive.
MARGUERITE: Well, after being trapped on this plateau for two
years, we’re more like family than friends…don’t tell anyone I said that.
ASKWITH: You know Miss. Krux, I don’t believe I’ve ever met a
woman quite like you.
MARGUERITE: I hope that’s a compliment?
ASKWITH: The first of many, if you’ll allow.
MARGUERITE: Happy now?
ROXTON: Immeasurably.
MARGUERITE: I am not some prize to be fought over.
ROXTON: Well, I think you are.
ASKWITH: From his rather wild reaction, I presume that you and Lord
Roxton…
MARGUERITE: In his dreams, not mine.
ASKWITH: You mean, not today.
CHALLENGER: I will be back.
VERONICA: I know.
ROXTON: We all will.
VERONICA: (turns to Marguerite) Almost all.
MARGUERITE: We’ve had our differences, but I feel like I’m losing
a sister…truly.
VERONICA: I feel like I’m losing my family all over again.
VERONICA: I’ll keep a light burning in the window…for my parents,
for Malone…for all of you.
MARGUERITE: Thank you.
ROXTON: I’ll never let you go!
Never!
CHALLENGER: We came to this plateau together and we’re going to
stay together.
ROXTON: It’s been one hell of a ride, George.
CHALLENGER: It’s not over yet…it’s not over yet.
