Marguerite Krux (Rachel Blakely) is the mysterious, wealthy woman who funded the expedition on the condition that she went along to the plateau with them. She has no scruples whatsoever and constantly comes into conflict with the rest of the group.

She was raised in an endless line of boarding schools where she was given the finest education, but no love. She has no idea of how a family responds to each other and finds it almost impossible to trust anyone but herself.

She has an extensive knowledge of a multitude of subjects and an exceptional ability with languages which allows her to translate almost anything you put in front of her.

If it advances her cause she'll do anything, betray anyone…when they first arrived in the Lost World, she promised to give Veronica Layton to the Zanga chief as his bride, in exchange for a way off the plateau and some gems!

She has been married at least once but goads, Lord John Roxton, with the idea that she may have had as many as four husbands.

There are also hints at her being an international jewel thief and even a double agent for the British during the war. In short, nothing accurate was known about Marguerite because she kept all her secrets and murky past to herself…until recently that is…

It has now been revealed that she came to the plateau in order to find the remaining half of a magical medallion she stole called, the Ouroboris. She was to return it to a powerful crimelord called Shanghai Xan, who, in return, would hand over her birth certificate. This information rocked the foundations of her burgeoning relationship with Roxton but they overcame it when he realised that her reason for the deception was due to finding out who she really is.

And, she wasn't a double agent after all…she was a triple agent…not only that, but the most successful triple agent of the Great War! Her codename was 'Percival' and she ran the entire spy ring within England - no wonder she has difficulty trusting anyone or looking out for anybody but herself.

Add to this, the fact that she recently figured out she's the reincarnation of a Druid priestess called Morigan who is the 'Chosen One' and you've got a woman who has amazing internal strength of character - a normal person would probably have broken down before now.

Of course, most normal people don't have the loving attentions and steady affection of a certain Lord to help them through their darker moments. The cold and calculating surface she acquired over the course of her life has slowly crumbled over the past three years to reveal emotions within her she'd thought she'd killed off a long time ago. It's been painful for her, but worth it.

As to the rest of the explorer's, she's formed an uneasy friendship with Veronica now and there is a mutual respect developing between her and Challenger.

She's not that close to Malone but it's a testament to her growth as a person that she sees enough to point out to Veronica that the young reporter has been in love with the huntress since he arrived on the plateau.

Finding herself a part of a family group that has to rely on each other day after day has brought a change in her for the better. Although she sometimes reverts back to type - if you don't care, you don't get hurt - she'd pretty much do anything for any one of the others now. A giant step forward.
