Rachel Green made her entrance in Central Perk soaking wet and wearing a wedding dress. She had run out on her wedding to dentist, Barry Farber, and was searching for an old friend of hers that she knew lived in the Village - Monica, with whom she used to go to high school.

She moved in with Monica and for the first time in her life, she had to make it on her own, without her family's money. The gang helped her make the adjustment and she got her first job as a waitress in Central Perk. She was awful at it and eventually quit.

She had a fling with her ex-finance, Barry who was due to marry her former Matron of Honour, Mindy. Rachel found out that Barry had cheated on her with Mindy before their wedding and when they both confronted him about it, Mindy decided to go ahead with the marriage anyway.

After Chandler let slip about Ross's feelings towards her, Rachel eventually started dating Ross. Whilst dating, she met a man called Mark who got her a job in Bloomingdales. Ross never liked Mark and his jealousy gradually drove he and Rachel apart. Although the split was bad they became friends again and even reunited for a short while.

After a drunken night in Las Vegas, she wound up married to Ross but at her insistence they soon divorced.

Rachel now works for Ralph Lauren where she had an affair with her assistant, Tag, but that ended when she realised that it wasn't going anywhere.

Due to Chandler and Monica's relationship getting more serious, she moved out of Monica's apartment after six years and now lives across the hall with Joey.

About a month before Chandler and Monica got married, Rachel and Ross had a one night stand. They agreed that it wouldn't be anything more than that but Rachel has since found out that she's carrying his child. She is going to keep the baby and is happy for Ross to be involved as much as he wants but she has refused to marry him as they aren't in love.

What Rachel doesn't know though is that there's another one of her close male friends who IS in love with her…and it ain't Chandler!

Although spoilt, a bit of a weeper and a little self-centred, Rachel would do anything for her friends, especially Monica who she's the closest to. She gives good advice and a great comforter if someone is upset.
