AN EVENING’S REFLECTION
Dishes
done, kids in bed,
Mother’s
gone to nurse her head.
Quiet
time, all to myself,
Why
do I feel left on the shelf?
Secret
spy, he’s not for me,
Plays
the field from sea to sea.
Sees
me as a dull housewife,
Thinks
I lead a boring life.
PTA
and grocery store,
Why
do I want so much more?
Gunfire,
car chase, bad guys abound,
I
always end up on the ground.
Danger,
intrigue, spies and all,
I’m
more at home when in the mall.
So
why do I go for more and more?
My
other life was such a bore.
All
these things appeal to me,
But
most of all's the one named Lee.
Why
is he stuck inside my heart?
He
and his ways will n’er part.
In
my yard, what do I hear?
Oh,
is it Lee; is he near?
My
heart goes thump, my pulse does race
At
the thought of his dear face.
Push
these doubts away from me,
What
matters now is my spy, Lee.
Open
the door to his sweet smile,
He
makes the whole thing all worthwhile.
