SAVIOR

Ex-agent, Edson Ballon was sacked by Billy because he was using Agency contacts to sell classified arms to the highest bidder. He and his colleague, a Major Sprague, then set up a 'company' called 'Ballon and Associates' and at a private screening they push their latest weapon for sale called, Viper. However, a man called General Benito is interested in something that's not on their list, a bomb called Savior. He approaches Ballon and tells him he is happy to pay any price for the weapon and Ballon is more than willing to help.
At the Agency, Amanda arrives and is shocked to find that Fred Fielder is sitting at Lee's desk and that Lee has in fact left the Agency for good. Not only that, but she finds out that Lee is now working for Ed Ballon, selling his guns for him.
Unable to believe that Lee would leave, she goes to see him at his new apartment but he just confirms all that she's heard. Unhappy with the situation, she goes back home and talks to Dotty who tells her that her 'friend' probably doesn't realise he has options on the job front. Amanda agrees and rushes back to Lee's new apartment with a newspaper and tries to get him to apply for a more 'normal' line of work.
Naturally this leads to an argument because Lee doesn't want her interfering with his life and Amanda tells him that they're friends and she's just trying to help him. Lee then tells her that they're, 'former business associates' and that he wants her out of his apartment as soon as his boss arrives. Upset that he thinks of her that way, Amanda agrees and after being briefly introduced to Ballon, she leaves.
Ballon comments to Lee on how loyal Amanda is but, Lee just waves it all aside saying she's just a civilian that they used for easy stuff. Ballon then tells Lee that he wants him to get, Savior. Lee says that it's still under wraps at the weapons-testing lab, Landover. Ballon knows and explains that since Lee set up the security at that place then he should be able to work around it. He then goes on to mention the fact that he would also be getting a 'million-six' for doing the job. Lee agrees.
Back at Amanda's house, she's doing her chores when the doorbell rings. It's Ballon. He tells Amanda that both he and Lee still work for the Agency but they have to make it look like they don't on Blue Leader's orders. Even Billy doesn't know. Amanda believes what he tells her and, after swearing her to secrecy, he recruits her into his plan to steal the Savior.
Meanwhile, Blue Leader contacts Billy to find out how it's going with the Ballon case as he's slipped through their fingers before and he doesn't want it to happen again. Billy informs him that Lee's apartment is bugged and that they've heard that a major arms deal is going down within the next few days. Blue Leader wants them all caught.
Ballon returns to Lee and lets him know that Amanda is now part of the mission. Lee isn't happy but can't do anything about it.
The next day, Lee meets with Billy. He's been undercover all along and tells his boss that the assignment is off because Amanda is now being used. Blue Leader hears what Lee says and tells him that it's all been planned too carefully for them to back out now and so Amanda must be protected but not told and the mission is still on.
Later that day, Amanda sets off from home to complete her part of Ballon's scheme. Lee, in turn, arrives at Landover with Major Sprague in tow and proceeds to 'requisition' the Savior on the pretence of there being a show-and-tell for NATO the following week. However, while Lee is out of the room signing paperwork, Sprague checks over the Savior and finds out it's a fake bomb. He looks around and finds the real one so then swops the two over.
Oblivious to the switch, Lee meets up with Ballon to find out where to take the bomb. Ballon tells him to go to Dulles and after Lee drives off, he contacts Billy who sends Agency people over to the airport. Lee drives into a tunnel and gets stuck behind a horse trailer. He tries to then contact Billy but his boss has his radio switched off so then he tries to reverse but a truck pulls up behind him and he's trapped. Men with guns jump out of the truck and point them at Lee. Another man jumps on the back of Lee's pick-up and a crane is bought in to hoist the crate containing the Savior off of his truck. Sprague turns up and also points a gun at Lee.
Outside, when Lee doesn't come out of the tunnel, Billy suspects that something is wrong and sends a couple of agents to find out what the hold up is.
Back inside the tunnel, the crate containing Savior is lowered roughly onto the horse trailer and the detonator pin falls out causing the bomb to arm itself. No-one notices and the car with the trailer drives off with the timer going. All of Ballon's men drive off and leave Lee alone in the tunnel. He sees that the car pulling the trailer is Amanda's so runs after it and jumps onto the trailer. He climbs over the top and jumps onto the roof of Amanda's car and then lays on the roof and looks at her upside down through the windscreen, yelling at her to stop slowly.
Of course, she's shocked at seeing him and slams on the brakes causing him to fly off of the car and onto the road. She gets out and helps him up, apologising the whole time. Lee tells her that he's working for the Agency but Ballon isn't and they carry on to the rendezvous point with Lee hidden in the back of the car.
They reach Ballon and after the exchange takes place, Lee emerges from the car to arrest them saying that they have a lot of back-up. Amanda takes some photo's of the scene using a tiny Lee has given her. Ballon isn't fooled by what Lee tells him so Lee threatens to shoot the bomb. However, as he points the gun, lee soon realises that the bomb is armed. He yells at everyone to run away and realising that he's not bluffing, Ballon and his men do just that.
Not realising the seriousness of the situation, Amanda is happy to see the Agency people turn up and capture Ballon and his men but when Lee yells at her to go as well, she automatically joins him by the bomb. Lee takes the cap off and sees that the pin is missing. Amanda tells him she can help and searches vainly through her bag for a pin. When she can't find one, she hands him a 'Go Bombers' badge and Lee manages to deactivate the bomb just in time.

ROMANCE
During the whole episode we really see just how they're starting to become good friends, a good basis for a lot of relationships - so quite a milestone episode in one way.
First off, Amanda just wouldn't accept that he'd 'turned to the dark side' and kept going back to him to change his mind even though he was quite rude in his numerous dismissals of her.
Lee isn't happy when Ballon recruits Amanda and wants to abort the whole mission on that fact - Blue Leader doesn't see a problem though and Lee probably wouldn't of either if it'd been someone else.
Then, during their conversation after he jumped on the roof of her car, Lee tries to put her mind at rest when she beats herself up about how gullible she was over believing Ballon. He comments on how he doesn't know anyone that'd go that far out on a limb for a friend. Amanda is extremely pleased that he thinks of her like that, even though he tried to minimise what he'd said only seconds later.
And then of course, there's the ending where everyone else runs away but Amanda stays to help Lee with the live bomb - she likes him just as a friend, eh? Hmmm, maybe there's just a glimmer of something else too J
QUOTES
AMANDA: You're going to be very embarrassed when you find out the real truth, Mr. Meadows.
FIELDER: Fielder.
AMANDA: Whatever.
BALLON: We all know what a terrific contribution you have made to the success of Scarecrow.
AMANDA: You do? Did Lee say that?
BALLON: He sees it a little differently.
AMANDA: Oh I know, I know. He thinks he doesn't need me.
LEE: Ballon's put Amanda into the deal.
BILLY: Amanda? Our Amanda?
LEE: Your Amanda.
LEE: Amanda, what did I tell you, huh? What did I tell you? I told you not to stop so fast.
AMANDA: You frightened me.
AMANDA: He lied to me and I believed him. I am really foolish.
LEE: Hold it, hold it. You believed in me, huh? You did what you did because you trusted me. Now, I don't know anybody who would go that far out on a limb for a friend. Amanda, you are not foolish, you're very far from it.
AMANDA: Friend? We're friends?
LEE: Well, I exaggerated a little.
LEE: Alright, we don't have any backup. It'll just be the two of us.
AMANDA: I have you, you'll figure something out.
AMANDA: I wonder why everybody ran away like that?
LEE: I don't know. Something we said, you think?
AMANDA: Well, I just can't believe it. You know, the pictures that I usually take, when I walk into the photo store, the lady just looks at me and points at me and laughs.
BILLY: We finally got a fix on your location when we picked up a report on state police radio about some clown on top of a lady's station wagon on McKinsington Road.
LEE: Clown?
BILLY: Well, that's their description, not mine.
