PART 9

The end of May was cool and balmy with sweet spring breezes or gentle falling rain. To Lee Stetson every day felt this way even if it wasn't. He knew he was acting like a kid, but he couldn't help it. For the first time in quite a while he felt young and carefree.

Ever since that day in his office he told Amanda that he felt they should get to know one another better and she had agreed he had felt like this. It didn't really matter what else he had been doing. Not even with all the mess of Dvorak and his presentation to the committee and deciding what to do about Stan. Thank God that was all over now. Dr. Smyth had actually apoligized to him and Billy had given him a small vacation.

His arm intwined with Amanda's as they walked along the path leading down to the overlook at Great Falls. Here, they felt they could loosen up abit and just be themselves. It was very unlikely anyone they knew would be here, and if they did they'd deal with it.

Not to many people were around to day it being a week day and they had the park pretty much to themselves. Reaching the overlook, they stood looking at the amazing body of water rumbling down the hill. "Isn't it just beautiful" Amanda sighed. "I could come here every day and never get tired of watching it."

"It is really beautiful" he agreed. Standing with arms around each other, they stayed there for several mintues taking in the beauty of the place and the joy of being with each other.

"I suppose we should be heading back." She sighed a huge sigh. "Philip has a baseball game tonight, I really do need to be there, I haven't gone to the last few."

She started to turn up the hill but Lee pulled her back and put his arms around her. Eagerly, she leaned into him and accepted his kiss. His mind flashed back to that day not so long ago in the Q-Bureau when he had known he would kiss her and it never happened. Once again he could feel her breath on his face, her mouth so close it was tantilizing. Tenderly, but with hunger they kissed. She tasted of water and outdoors, and he held in memory. Leaning against one another there hearts beating so fast, they noticed someone coming down the path towards them. "We better go," he whispered. One more kiss and then they walked back to the car and on out to the real world.

At work the next day, Lee was busy going through some survillance photos when Adam came walking in and sat down in the extra chair. "Lee, can I talk to you for a moment.?"

"Sure, what's up?"

"It's not work related."

"That's okay, what's the problem?"

Adam took a deep breathe before answering. "Lee, do you remember what is was like to be in love? I know you don't think about such things now, but when you were young you did I'm sure."

Lee tried not to laugh, he was being serious after all. He thought of being with Amanda and all the things that had transpired in the last few weeks. Yes, he remembered. This really had been a sensational spring.
