Lee Stetson is the top field agent at The Agency. Born into a 'spy family', both his parents were spies, he was crushed when they were both killed in a car 'accident' when he was a child. After their deaths, he was sent to live with his Uncle, an airforce man called Colonel Robert Clayton. He was shifted from base to base and brought up extremely strictly without much fun in his life.

When he was old enough, he joined the secret service and his first break was when top operative, Paul Barnes, selected Lee to become a part of a new section called the 'Oz Network'. Paul Barnes, aka The Wizard, gave Lee his codename and they became good friends until the unit disbanded when Lee's first love and colleague, Dorothy, was killed in a setup by other team member, Serdeyich, the Tin Man.

Lee joined The Agency after that and soon struck up a close friendship with his boss, Billy Melrose, who stands by him through thick and thin. He has become a formidible force in the field where his reputation now preceeds him.

A womaniser of the first degree, Lee soon obtained an even bigger reputation for the ladies and even bedded his colleague, Francine Desmond shortly after she was jilted at the altar by her fiance. They split up but remain good friends.

Lee fell in love for a second time with a woman called Eva. She married a friend of his and he was heartbroken. He later found out, at the near cost of his own death, that she was, in fact, a member of the KGB.

His partner died taking a bullet for him and, unable to handle the thought of going though that sort of pain again, he flatly refused to have anyone else assigned to him. Billy became worried over Lee's seemingly growing recklessness and his loner attitude after the loss of his partner and tried to come up with a solution. Surprisingly, the solution came in the form of one, Amanda King…housewife, divorced mother of two with a stationwagon and her mother living at home. And to top it off, it also came from a very unexpected source…Lee himself.

Lee met Amanda while he was on a case. The Russians were closing in on him and he picked her out in a crowded station as the one to help him. He begged her to take a parcel for him and pass it on. She reluctantly agreed but didn't do it. Lee sought her out and together they managed to crack the case.

Billy liked the way they worked together and recruited her officially on a part time basis. Lee wasn't happy with the situation at all and tried to get out of working with her any way he could.

Gradually though, he came to see that there was more to Amanda than he initially gave her credit for and they became good friends. He finally admitted that she was his partner after denying it resolutely for nigh on two years. They became closer still and after three years, he admitted that he loved her and had done for a long while.

She returned his feelings and they eventually married in secret so that none of their enemies could use her family as a weapon against them in the future.

His life was turned upside down when Amanda was shot while on their honeymoon and nearly died. She survived and, apart from the odd marital spat, they seem happier than ever.

Lee finally has the family he always wanted…what a shame it has to be kept a secret!
