THE VISITOR

BY GUY MULLALLY

MALONE: What I wouldn't give for a medium rare beefsteak, French truffles for dessert and, uh, well, someone to share it with.

VERONICA: Well don't look at me.

MALONE: I wasn't.

MALONE: But you must dream of sharing a plate of raptor ribs with some lucky guy?

VERONICA: No-one I'm telling you about.

MALONE: No-one you're telling me about or just plain no-one?

ROXTON: Look, what if this animal finds Marguerite here by herself with Malone too sick to help her?

MARGUERITE: That's a lovely thought!

MEDICINE WOMAN: You have been in contact with Danu, you are lucky to be alive.

VERONICA: What are you talking about? Danu came to warn us, he saved us from the beast.

MEDICINE WOMAN: No…Danu is the beast.

MEDICINE WOMAN: There is no cure.

ROXTON: What?!

CHALLENGER: You mean you haven't found a cure yet.

ROXTON: We won't lose Malone.

VERONICA: Never.

MARGUERITE: Just another night at the opera.

MALONE: Where is everybody?

MARGUERITE: Everybody left Marguerite here all alone to take care of things, you being one of them.

MALONE: You just sit down and relax, it's the least I can do after all your care and consideration last night…except for the tying me up bit.

MARGUERITE: Well, no-one's ever complained about that before.

MALONE: Well maybe we should try it again sometime when I'm not sleepy.

ROXTON: You know what all this sounds like don't you?

CHALLENGER: Werewolves.

DANU: You're mine Veronica, I won't let you go.

MARGUERITE:: What shall we drink to?

MALONE: How about a toast to us?

MARGUERITE: Us?

MALONE: It's difficult with Roxton around but by now you must know how I really feel about you?

MARGUERITE: Me and you?

MALONE: Yeah, I've been saving myself for a moment just like this.

HE GOES TO KISS HER AND SHE SLAPS HIM HARD

MALONE: How can I resist you now?

MARGUERITE: Take it easy Romeo.

MALONE: Well, wouldn't that make you Juliet?

MARGUERITE: Malone? Are you out there? Anyone? Well fine! It's not like I can't take care of a simple man by myself…even if he does have more hair and teeth and bad manners than usual.

CHALLENGER: The height of the mountains all around us combined with the low altitude of this place must create an atmospheric barrier; it traps the clouds overhead.

ROXTON: Well, thanks for the weather report, George. Any ideas about the inhabitants?

CHALLENGER: That was a bloody werewolf!

ROXTON: Alright, first clear shot I get, I'll use this. Pray that I don't miss.

CHALLENGER: Pray?! I'm a man of science, Roxton, I'm banking on your skill and accuracy.

CHALLENGER: Malone won't attack us.

MARGUERITE: You'd better believe he does.

VERONICA: Is he…?

CHALLENGER: Unconscious.
