THE TRAVELERS
BY GUY MULLALLY
ROXTON:…most annoying, headstrong woman I've ever met and you've completely exhausted my patience!
MARGUERITE: I suppose I should be flattered by your offer, Mr. Locke, but the life of an outlaw is never as glamorous as you make it sound.
LOCKE: Oh, but it is. Especially once you've heard everything I have to offer, you'll leap at the opportunity.
MARGUERITE: You're very sure of yourself.
LOCKE: So are you.
MARGUERITE: Well, I'm sure my affections can't be bought that easily.
MARGUERITE: But what about my friends? They would like to go home too.
LOCKE: The sudden surge of loyalty in you surprises me, Marguerite.
MARGUERITE: I think it's me you really want.
LOCKE: What man could resist such a divine creature?
MARGUERITE: I rest my case.
ROXTON: First Summerlee, then Malone, now Marguerite. I'm not giving up until I find her, Challenger and God help anyone who lays a finger on her.
CHALLENGER: Someone had kidnapped Marguerite.
ROXTON: Yeah, someone's made a very big mistake.
VERONICA: She's hidden stuff everywhere.
ROXTON: Well, let's just hope there's enough to get her back.
CHALLENGER: We're going to need bigger saddlebags at this rate.
ROXTON: I wonder what they want with Marguerite?
VERONICA: She looked pretty happy to me. I think she's decided to abandon us.
ROXTON: Marguerite did not abandon us, Veronica and you know it!
VERONICA: I know that she hasn't…so far.
LOCKE: You should've let her go.
ROXTON: Never.
VERONICA: Malone tried to warn us.
MARGUERITE: Malone did?
CHALLENGER: Yes, he wrote a message on the table at the treehouse.
ROXTON: Yes, beware of cads and silver-tongued devils.
ROXTON PULLS OUT A FOLDED PIECE OF PAPER FROM HIS POCKET
MARGUERITE: What's that?
ROXTON: A secret. Perhaps your most precious treasure of all.
MARGUERITE TAKES THE PAPER AND UNFOLDS IT TO REVEAL HER DOODLES WHICH INCLUDE THREE DIFFERENT WAYS OF SIGNING HER NAME AS, 'LADY MARGUERITE ROXTON'
MARGUERITE:
(clearly embarrassed but trying to cover) You think I want to be your wife?ROXTON: I think there's a lot of things you want to keep well hidden.
MARGUERITE: Lady Marguerite Roxton? I wasn't thinking of you…I was thinking of your fortune.
ROXTON:
(smiles and snatches paper back) I'll keep it as evidence, just the same. (Walks off whistling the Bridal March).
