VAUXHALL VICTOR FD V8

AT BILLING 2004

The latest addition to our stable is this 1968, Vauxhall Victor FD. It is in excellent condition with various new panels and respray of its original colour - Polar White.

Looks standard, huh? Wait until you look in the engine bay…

Where there was once a nice 1600cc Vauxhall engine, there now resides a small block, 5.7 Chevy V8.

Now, if anyone out there has ever decided to drop an engine of that size into an old UK classic, you might have found out that cooling could be a problem.

I realised this as I sat in the passenger seat and felt my feet get hotter and hotter - you see, this car was modified to be a pure racer.

CHEVY V8

Raw doesn't even begin to cover how the ride feels. The two Cosworth fans that attempt to keep the engine cool don't really cut it and considering there's no room for the bulkhead, it's not only hot, it's also extremely loud!

When it goes into drive or reverse the pull of the engine engaging is so fierce that the back wheels actually spin and you're jolted so strongly you think you're neck is going to snap.

And there's no creeping forward with this car - it literally has two speeds - S*!T and Stop!

Damn, it's a lot of fun!
